Vice President Harris Visits Baltimore — Highlights Successes of the First 100 Days

The Visit on the Biden-Harris Administration’s 100th Day in Office

Baltimore City, Maryland — Today, April 29th, on the 100th full day of the Biden-Harris administration, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Baltimore City to highlight the country’s successful vaccination effort, and the economic resurgence fueled by the American Rescue Plan.

The Vice President’s visit was part of the ‘Getting America Back on Track Tour’ focusing on the accomplishments of the administration’s first 100 days, and laying out the path to continue building our country back better through historic investments in infrastructure and tax reform. Touring M&T Bank Stadium, Harris discussed the successful goal of 200 million COVID-19 vaccines administered in less than 100 days. Which, in Maryland, has led to 42% of residents — and 83% of Marylanders over 65 — having received at least one dose of the vaccine.

This massive undertaking was made possible by the vaccine distribution funding in the American Rescue Plan that not a single Republican in Congress voted for, and the collective effort of every American and Marylander.

In Baltimore, Vice President Harris lauded the impact of the American Rescue Plan which delivered $670 million in aid to the city, and a total of $6.355 billion in relief funding to our state. The economic relief in the plan, such as the $1,400 stimulus checks and the small business aid, has put our economy back on track. The Biden-Harris administration added more jobs in their first 100 days than any administration in history, unemployment numbers are declining precipitously, and retail sales are rapidly rising.

“As President Biden laid out in his address to Congress Wednesday night — we’re getting America back on track. Under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, we’ve administered 200 million shots in 100 days, passed one of the most significant pieces of legislation this century, created millions of jobs, provided relief to four million small businesses, expanded health care to half a million Americans, and will cut child poverty in half this year alone,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chair Yvette Lewis. “I’m thrilled Vice President Harris visited Baltimore City today to highlight these extraordinary successes. Baltimore has always been at the heart of our nation — it’s a city of hope, tenacity, and grit — there is no better place to start putting America back on track.”

The Biden-Harris administration’s first 100 days in office also included the strongest actions on gun safety in 20 years; an end of the Trump administration’s racist travel bans, and bans on LGBTQ+ individuals in the military; the re-entry into the Paris Climate Agreement; a planned end to U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan by September; and launched the American Jobs Plan, a once-in-a-generation investment in infrastructure to make America more competitive, and help create millions of clean energy jobs.
