Will Hogan Stand Up for Maryland’s Economy Against Another #TrumpShutdown?

Feb 07, 2018

Annapolis, MD —  After shutting down the government once already this year, yesterday Donald Trump said that he would “love to see a shutdown” of the federal government, which would cost Maryland’s economy $5 million per day.

“A government shutdown costs Maryland’s economy $5 million per day but Donald Trump doesn’t care,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Matthews. “I wish Governor Hogan had the political courage to stand up for Maryland, but he is afraid to utter Trump’s name.  Democrats are working to keep the government open and ensure that Trump keeps his promise to protect DREAMers.  We need a Governor who is not walking on eggshells and will protect Marylanders from Trump and the GOP who are trying to dismantle the programs that Democrats have fought for.”

During Republicans’ 2013 shutdown, an 8-year-old Baltimore girl was denied access to a potentially life-saving clinical trial for leukemia.
