Annapolis, MD—Maryland Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Matthews issued the following statement after the State Board of Elections (SBE) announced that the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) failed to forward more than 80,000—not 18,000 as initially reported—updated voter records to SBE:
“Every voter should know that their right to vote is sacred and unassailable, and they are entitled to cast a provisional ballot, which will be counted. Democrats remain prepared to assist any voter who encounters difficulties accessing their ballot. Voters should call the party’s Voter Protection Hotline at 1-888-678-8683 to speak with one of the party’s experienced voter protection attorneys.”
