Larry Hogan’s Thin Skin Costs Maryland Taxpayers $65K

Apr 02, 2018

Annapolis, MD — Maryland taxpayers are being forced to payout $65,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on behalf of several Marylanders banned from Larry Hogan’s Facebook page.  The Hogan administration will also implement rules to prevent Hogan from blocking Marylanders on Facebook.  In January 2017, Hogan bragged about his Facebook “addiction,” saying, “It’s like Trump with the Twitter. [My staff is] like, ‘Oh, no—he’s on Facebook again.’ ”  Hogan’s office blocked 450 people on Facebook between 2015 and 2017.

“Larry Hogan’s Facebook habit is just as bad as Donald Trump’s Twitter addiction, and they are equally thin-skinned.  Now Maryland taxpayers are footing the bill,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Matthews.  “If Governor Hogan isn’t able to handle criticism, he’s in the wrong line of work.”
