Hogan Must Take a Stand on Kavanaugh Nomination

Jul 25, 2018

Annapolis, MD—More than two weeks after Donald Trump nominated former Bush White House official Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the Supreme Court, Maryland voters are still wondering where Larry Hogan stands. Today the governor did not sign a letter supporting the nomination sent by GOP governors, as he keeps ducking and dodging to avoid taking a stand.

Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court would present a real threat to Maryland’s healthcare system, womenenvironmentworkers and LGBTQ community. Maryland Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Matthews issued the following statement calling on Hogan to put questions to rest and make his position on Kavanaugh’s nomination clear:

“Judge Kavanaugh could change the Supreme Court for a generation, and endangers many of Maryland’s progressive policies, including affordable healthcare, environmental protection, and the rights of women,  workers and the LGBTQ community.  Larry Hogan needs to stand with Marylanders against Kavanaugh’s nomination.”
