Annapolis, Md. – As House Republicans plan to vote this Thursday to take away healthcare from hundreds of thousands of Marylanders, members of the Maryland congressional delegation, Congressmen Hoyer, Cummings, Sarbanes and Raskin, called on Governor Larry Hogan in Annapolis earlier today to join their efforts and oppose the Republican health care plan.
Hogan’s response was to stick to his partisan corner and call their efforts to protect Marylanders’ healthcare “grandstanding.”
“As House Republicans plan to roll back heroin and opioid addiction treatment, mental health coverage – and not to mention take away the health care of hundreds of thousands of Maryland working families – this upcoming Thursday, it’s telling that at this point Republican Governor Larry Hogan still won’t stand up to his own party,” said Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Bryan Lesswing. “Maryland deserves better than Republican Governor Larry Hogan, who refuses to shed his partisan allegiances and stand up for Marylanders and their health care.”
Last last week, a group of four GOP governors came out against the Republican health care plan in a joint letter.
