Hogan still wonāt say whether he vetted his nominee who had troubling legal record and failed to pay taxes
Annapolis, Md.Ā – Governor Larry Hogan still hasnāt answered questions on whether he knowingly pushed for a nominee who had a troubling legal record and failed to pay taxes.
Last night, āMembers of the Senate Executive Nominations Committee on Monday questioned [the nomineeās] lack of experience and court record. It included a driving under the influence of alcohol charge, failure to appear in court and failure to pay taxes,ā according to theĀ AP.
Since then, Hogan hasĀ refusedĀ multipleĀ requestsĀ for comment on the nomineeās background and whether or not the nominee was vetted.
Not only are the revelations alarming, they also expose Hoganās grandstanding and hypocrisy on ethics.
In January, HoganĀ pushedĀ to run background checks on Democratic lawmakers who were filling vacancies in the General Assembly. Even earlier this week, Hogan went on a PR push on ācontroversy-free state government.ā
The following statement was released by Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Bryan Lesswing:
āMarylanders deserve to know whether Governor Hogan and his office knew his school board nominee had a troubling legal history and failed to pay taxes.ā
āSince Governor Hogan pushed for background checks on incoming Democratic state lawmakers earlier this year, does this mean Hogan holds a different standard for his own nominees?ā
