As the number of deficient bridges in Maryland rises, Hogan pushes a PR campaign and refuses to compromise
Annapolis, Md. — As newly released Maryland infrastructure data shows the need for urgent action, Governor Hogan isn’t letting up on his ‘my way or no highway’ position.
Yesterday, Hogan made it clear that he is still unwilling to make a deal with Democrats over transportation funding.
Instead of working across the aisle to strike a deal, Hogan has needlessly pushed a public relations campaign to get his way. Hogan’s political group even went after legislative opponents with attack ads.
Maryland’s commuters can’t wait on Hogan’s games.
According to a recent report by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, the number of deficient bridges in Maryland rose over the past year.
That same organization also ranked Maryland 39th in the nation based on the number of structurally deficient bridges in the state, and 36th based on the percentage of structurally deficient bridges.
The following statement was released by Maryland Democratic Party executive director Chuck Conner:
“Governor Hogan’s ‘my way or no highway’ position is only hurting Maryland’s commuters.”
“Instead of posturing like Donald Trump, Hogan needs to start putting an honest effort into working with Maryland Democrats to urgently repair the state’s deficient bridges and fill the road potholes.”
