Maryland leaders met in Silver Spring today to launch the GOP Senate Majority Maker Tour, a series of open-press events featuring Marylanders from across the state and Republican Larry Hoganâs âincredible justices,â special guests who are holding Hogan accountable for praising Donald Trumpâs Supreme Court picks after they overturned Roe. These Marylanders are making the case in every major media market that Hogan could be the 51st seat Republicans need to take control of the Senate and push forward the GOPâs extreme agenda.Â
Todayâs launch coincides with a fundraiser Hogan â who has come under fire in recent weeks for calling Donald Trumpâs Supreme Court picks âincredible justicesâ â is holding alongside anti-abortion rights extremists in Tennessee, including the âfaceâ of the âGOPâs war on womenâ Marsha Blackburn. Tennessee has one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country, only possible because the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

âIf Larry Hogan thinks these guys are incredible, I dread to think who he might find to be nearly qualified to serve in the federal judiciary,â said Former Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh. âMy guess is anybody that Trump nominates. Larry Hogan is Mitch McConnell’s candidate for the United States Senate. And the question is why. The answer is because he will do what they want. He will join the Republican caucus.â
âRepublican Larry Hogan has repeatedly said he doesnât support a pro-abortion rights litmus test for any judicial nominee. There is a group of anti-abortion rights extremists waiting in the wings for a Republican Senator Larry Hogan to give them power,â said Maryland Democratic Party First Vice Chair Dr. Charlene Dukes. âItâs on us to defend Democratic control of the Senate. Itâs on us to make Democrat Angela Alsobrooks our next U.S. Senator. We can do this, but we have to do it together.â
âRepublican Larry Hogan has shown us time and time again who he is. He does not support womenâs reproductive rights,â said Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman. âHogan may be trying to shape shift now, but Marylanders will not be fooled. Marylanders understand the stakes of this election. They understand why folks like Marsha Blackburn and Mitch McConnell are trying to help Hogan get into the Senate: because the Senate majority is on the line.â
âMaryland’s Senate race is about control of the U.S. Senate. Extremists like Marsha Blackburn are backing Larry Hogan because they know he could be the 51st seat,â said abortion rights advocate and Chief Strategy Officer for Reproductive Freedom for All Yvonne Gutierrez. âThey know that in order to retake the Senate, they need Hogan in order to push forward this anti-abortion agenda, including a national abortion ban and including many other provisions that we’ve seen under Project 2025. Any vote for Hogan is a vote to give Republicans the majority they need in the Senate to do even more extreme anti-abortion policy provisions that will harm families, not just here in Maryland, but across this country.â
