MD Dems Call on Hogan to be Transparent with MD Taxpayers & Release Redmer’s Timesheets

Oct 16, 2018

Annapolis, MD—The Maryland Democratic Party is calling on Larry Hogan to publicly release Maryland Insurance Commissioner and Republican nominee for Baltimore County Executive Al Redmer’s timesheets from the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) to prove he is not campaigning on taxpayer’s dime.

“Larry Hogan likes to talk about accountability and transparency, so it’s time for him to practice what he preaches and release Al Redmer’s timesheets so taxpayers can be assured that he is not campaigning on their dime,” said Maryland Democratic Party chair Kathleen Matthews. “Al Redmer’s refusal to release his timesheets sends a loud message to voters that he is incapable of running a transparent government for Baltimore County.”

Last week, the party slammed Redmer’s lack of transparency, highlighting that despite his claims of returning donations from the insurance industry, Redmer’s campaign is funded by more than $50,000 in donations from the insurance industry.

Last month, the Baltimore County Democratic Central Committee called on Redmer to release his time sheets from MIA following a WYPR interview during which Redmer declined to release his timesheets, doubling down on a refusal first made when his Republican primary opponent Delegate Pat McDonough requested the information. In response to these previous requests to release his timesheets, Redmer claimed that he could not make the records public as they are under the purview of the state.
