The Supreme Court Upheld the Affordable Care Act
Maryland — Today, Maryland Democratic Party Chair Yvette Lewis released the following statement after the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act in a 7-2 decision:
“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a victory for our state, our country, and for the over 25 million Americans who receive their health care through the Affordable Care Act. The Court has made it clear — affordable, high-quality health care is a right — not a privilege.
“However, let’s not forget why the Supreme Court was hearing this case in the first place. After Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act, giving health care to millions and saving countless lives — Republicans like Rep. Andy Harris spent the last decade trying to tear these protections away from the most vulnerable Americans.
“The Maryland Democratic Party is proud to be the party of the Affordable Care Act.”
