Annapolis, MD—Today, the Maryland Democratic Party is calling out Governor Larry Hogan for his attempts to claim credit for Attorney General Brian Frosh’s emergency declaration lawsuit against President Donald Trump—after criticizing the lawsuit just one day before.
In an interview with WBAL Radio, Hogan commented on Attorney General Frosh’s lawsuit that “I understand what he thinks he’s doing is important, but a lot of people think we should be focusing on violent crime rather than filing 30, 40 suits against people in Washington.” Yet a Washington Post article the very next day reports that “Hogan said he agreed with the decision by Maryland’s Democratic attorney general, Brian E. Frosh, to join more than a dozen other states in filing a lawsuit challenging Trump’s executive order.”
In response to these conflicting quotes, Maryland Democratic Party Chair Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings has issued the following statement:
“By criticizing Attorney General Brian Frosh for joining the lawsuit against Trump’s bogus emergency declaration, but then flipping the script and saying he supports the move just a day later, it’s clear that Larry Hogan is talking out both sides of his mouth. Apparently Hogan has no qualms using Trumpian tactics to stoke his career ambitions. Hogan cannot be both against the lawsuit, and for it—the people of Maryland deserve to know where their governor actually stands.”
