Annapolis, MD—In an interview with New York Times columnist Frank Bruni published today, Larry Hogan joined Washington Republicans in attacking the legitimacy of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation in Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. Hogan said Mueller’s investigation is “too far afield of its original intent.”
In reality, Mueller’s investigation, which has been under constant attack from Republicans like Jim Jordan—who came to Maryland to raise money to boost Hogan last month—has already resulted in 3 guilty pleas from Trump’s former aides.
“It’s shameful that Larry Hogan is joining his Washington Republican allies in attacking the legitimacy of Robert Mueller’s investigation,” said Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Fabion Seaton. “While Maryland Democrats in Congress are fighting to protect Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation and hold Russia accountable, Larry Hogan is attacking the legitimacy of the investigation and playing defense for Donald Trump. Maryland voters, who overwhelmingly disapprove of Donald Trump, deserve much better.”
