The Event Advertised $25,000 Photos With Trump & Cox

MD Dems Call On Cox To Disclose Information About Fundraiser With Trump

MARYLAND  —  On Sunday, Republican gubernatorial nominee Dan Cox traveled to Florida, skipping out on a meeting with community leaders for a Monday fundraiser hosted by former President Donald Trump at his Mar-A-Lago estate. The Cox campaign has been conspicuously silent about the event, not promoting it at all and even stating that it would refuse to disclose any details about the fundraiser.

Tickets for the private cocktail reception sold at nearly $2,000 each and a photo with Trump and Cox was available for a “$25,000 raise per photo.” An attendee stated that the event sold out within a week.

Maryland law states that “A person may contribute directly or indirectly no more than $6,000 to one political committee during the election cycle,” raising questions as to how Cox has benefitted from the $25,000 Trump photos. It is possible that Trump kept excess funds instead of giving them to Cox’s campaign. However, Cox claimed weeks ago that Trump “is helping us do this without anything back to him.”

“Dan Cox needs to come clean about the amount of money raised at this Mar-A-Lago event, how many $25,000 photos were sold and how the money was distributed,” said Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Ernest Bailey. “The radio silence from Cox and his campaign begs the question ‘What are they hiding?’
