Donald Trump Fired Nearly 25,000 Marylanders In 2025

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Following the release of data showing Donald Trump fired nearly 25,000 Maryland federal workers in 2025, Steuart Pittman, Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“In 2025, Donald Trump and his cronies launched an unprecedented attack on Maryland, firing nearly 25,000 dedicated public servants. These mass layoffs often came from a phone call or an email, and were followed by the administration telling them to get their belongings out by the end of the day.

Let me be clear, the Marylanders who signed up for a life of public service deserve better.

Maryland Democrats will keep fighting for our federal workers as we face an assault on our workers, our families, and the state and local governments that serve them.”

If you or someone you know has been affected by these unprecedented actions the State of Maryland has provided a website which outlines resources available to impacted federal employees and contractors that can be found here.
