Chair Pittman Statement On Celebration Of Confederate Flag At Cecil Parade
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Today, Maryland Democratic Party Chairman Steuart Pittman released the following statement on the celebration of the Confederate Flag at a Christmas Parade in Cecil County:
“The photos we’ve seen of people celebrating Confederate Flags and handing them to children at the North East Christmas Parade are inexcusable. The celebration of a symbol of hate that ripped our country apart has no place in today’s society. These relics are nothing more than that–a reminder of a dark, racist period in our country’s history. These symbols shouldn’t be paraded around, they should be cast aside and their cause should be lost.”
