Baltimore County announced Tuesday new leaders for the Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability and the Department of Economic and Workforce Development Tuesday.
Horacio Tablada will head up the environmental protection department, while Marcus Wang will lead the economic development agency.
Information about their salaries was not immediately available.
Tablada, a native of Nicaragua who lives in Elkridge, will succeed director David Lykens, who is retiring.
Tablada retired as Maryland Secretary of the Environment in January after former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan named him to that position in June 2022. He had previously served as Deputy Secretary since 2015, and worked in the state Department of the Environment in various roles since 1985, according to the agency’s website and Tablada’s LinkedIn profile.
Wang is the chief executive of ZytoGen Global Genetics Institute, a Lutherville-based genetics clinic, and serves on the Baltimore County Economic Advisory Board and Maryland Health Care Commission, according to his LinkedIn.
He previously served from 2015 to 2019 on the board of directors for the Baltimore County Revenue Authority, a quasi-governmental agency that funds and operates parking garages and golf courses throughout the county.
Wang will take over from Acting Director Jennifer Lynch, a senior governmental adviser for County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr., who has served as the department’s interim leader since April.
