Video highlights Hogan’s ‘last to lead’ approach
Annapolis, Md. – The Maryland Democratic Party released a new web video today highlighting Governor Larry Hogan’s ‘last to lead’ approach to standing up for Marylanders’ health care.
“Unlike Governor Larry Hogan’s ‘last to lead’ approach, doctors, hospitals, health care industry leaders, aging Americans – even other Republican governors – are standing up to Donald Trump and the Washington GOP’s disastrous health care bill,” said Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Bryan Lesswing. “Governor Hogan owes Marylanders answers: why won’t he stand up for their healthcare, when others will?”
While doctors, hospitals, health care industry leaders, aging Americans – even other Republican governors – are standing up to Donald Trump and the Washington GOP’s disastrous health care bill, Governor Larry Hogan doesn’t want to ‘get into the details’ and still thinks it’s ‘too early to judge.’
Here is a running list:
Organizations
- AARP
- American Medical Association
- American Hospital Association
- National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare
- Various insurers
Red, Blue and Purple State Republican Governors
- Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner
- Maine Governor Paul LePage
- Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker
- Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval
- Ohio Governor John Kasich
- Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson
Even the Trump administration’s top Medicaid official has come down against the health care bill.
A Congressional Budget Office report released earlier this week found that the GOP health care bill would result in 24 million more Americans without health insurance and hike premiums in the individual market by 20%, particularly hurting older people with lower incomes.
