Annapolis, Md. – Maryland Democratic Party Executive Director Chuck Conner today released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s denigration of American military generals during the Commander-in-Chief Forum:

“Donald Trump failed the Commander-in-Chief test last night. When given the opportunity to make his case to American voters, he praised Russia’s strongman Vladimir Putin, insulted our military generals and suggested the military should pillage and plunder natural resources. The man who once claimed to know more about ISIS than military generals couldn’t even articulate how his administration would address the ongoing fight with ISIS.

Elections have consequences nationally and locally. Trump has repeatedly shown that he lacks the temperament and knowledge to lead our nation. Every Republican seeking office in Maryland – regardless of whether they’ve publicly endorsed Trump or expressed support for his candidacy – should answer for Trump’s comments. Maryland voters deserve to know which candidates on the ballot in November have embraced Trumpism.”
