Position: Digital Marketing Intern

About the Position: The Maryland Democratic Party is seeking a Digital Marketing Intern to support the day-to-day functions of the Digital team during the Fall 2026 internship program. This role will provide hands-on experience in digital communications, content creation, and Election Day/GOTV digital support ahead of the 2026 General Election.

The Digital Marketing Intern will play a key role in shaping the Party’s messaging and content strategy while supporting events, voter engagement initiatives, and Coordinated Campaign efforts through the final stretch of the 2026 General Election, including Election Day.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Create social media content, graphics, and digital communications materials
● Support rapid response communications and messaging efforts
● Assist with event coverage, photography, video production, and real-time content creation, including at Take Back Tour stops
● Support communications initiatives related to voter engagement, GOTV efforts, and the Party’s Red to Blue program
● Assist with promotion and content production for the Party podcast, Burn the Talking Points
● Support communications planning and real-time content coverage for Election Day
● Monitor digital trends and contribute ideas for audience growth and engagement
● Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
● Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
● Experience creating digital content for social media platforms
● Experience using Adobe Photoshop or similar design tools
● Basic photography, video editing, or multimedia content creation skills
● Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
● Interest in political communications, campaigns, or public service
● Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to commute to Annapolis, MD and state party events as needed
● (Preferred) Prior communications, campaign, media, or internship experience; familiarity with political
communications and digital organizing strategies

Employment Type: This is a temporary internship position running from September 21, 2026 through November 20, 2026. This position is non-exempt and is based in Annapolis, Maryland. In-person work in the Annapolis office is mandatory on Tuesdays (weekly all-staff meeting); remaining days are largely remote, at the discretion of the Digital Director. This intern is required to work GOTV Weekend (Saturday, October 31 through Monday, November 2) and Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, regardless of their standard weekly schedule. Prior to the start date, interns must submit their class schedule to their supervisor, followed by their final exam schedule once available.

Compensation: This position offers an hourly rate of $20/hour, commensurate with experience.
