Annapolis, Md. – Today, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to exempt health care plans from critical consumer protection requirements, adding uncertainty to individual insurance markets and increasing insurance cost for thousands of Marylanders. The Maryland Democratic Party is calling on Governor Larry Hogan to get off the sidelines and join the fight to protect Marylanders from the Republican Party’s efforts to undermine and sabotage the Affordable Care Act.
“With his legislative agenda floundering in Congress, President Trump has taken his biggest step yet toward further destabilizing insurance markets nationwide, increasing insurance costs for hundreds of thousands of Maryland families,” said Maryland Democratic Party spokesperson Fabion Seaton. “In light of this heartless and unprecedented act of sabotage by the President, Governor Hogan must get off the sidelines and fight for Marylanders. Maryland families have been begging Governor Hogan to get on the frontlines of the fight to protect the Affordable Care Act for months, where is he?”
While other Republican governors were publicly pressuring their GOP colleagues in Washington to oppose TrumpCare, Governor Hogan was notably missing in action despite calls from Maryland families that he join them on the frontlines.
After an 11th hour stunt by President Trump to save face by sabotaging health care for countless American families, Governor Hogan is once again missing in action.
