Last night, Neil Parrott, a January 6th apologist, hosted a fundraiser with Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01), a key architect of the January 6th plot to overturn the 2020 election, leading to the deadly riot on the US Capitol. The Washington Post previously called Harris “one of Trump’s closest allies as the president desperately tried to cling to power,” noting that Harris was among 10 House Republicans who attended a 2020 White House meeting with then-President Donald Trump, to discuss actions that could be taken to keep Trump in power.
Parrott himself has defended and aligned himself with the January 6th insurrection, bragging that a lot of his friends were in Washington that day, to support “fair elections,” and claimed it was “admirable” of rally attendees to support then-President Trump, and “very unfortunate” that attendees were facing criticism for their attendance.
“January 6th represents one of the darkest days in our democracy since the Civil War,” said MDP Spokesperson Luca Amayo. “Marylanders deserve leadership that rejects it, not fundraises off it.”
