Investigation by the Baltimore Banner further corroborates serious sexual assault allegations made by former students
Closely affiliated candidates Nkongolo and Pulliam urged to join calls for Yocum to step down in light of his pattern of abusive conduct
Annapolis, MD — In light of the serious allegations of child abuse and misconduct against Charles “Chuck” Yocum revealed in the Baltimore Banner’s investigation, the Maryland Democratic Party is calling on Mr. Yocum to immediately step down from the race for the Anne Arundel County School Board.
The Party also calls on the other Anne Arundel School Board candidates who have campaigned closely with Mr. Yocum, LaToya Nkongolo and Dawn Pulliam, to join us in calling for his withdrawal from the race. Anything short of that condones this behavior.
“The evidence of Mr. Yocum’s pattern of abusive conduct is overwhelming and deeply disturbing,” said MDP Spokesperson Luca Amayo. “Mr. Yocum has proven himself to be unfit for any public office – let alone one in a position of authority over children. We call on him to immediately withdraw from the race for school board in Anne Arundel County.”
Mr. Yocum’s shameful public conduct reveals a troubling pattern of abusive conduct that only reinforces the concerns posed by the accusations of sexual abuse he is facing. Mr. Yocum rallied to belittle and dismiss the women who accused Donald Trump of sexual assault – entirely unprompted. In his self-published blog, Mr. Yocum wrote the following about Trump’s accusers: “Now, let’s turn to Trump. He’s not without his demons. He’s got a closet full of them, I’m sure. I’m not buying all of the women who have suddenly come from the depths to claim he groped them. I’m not buying all of them, I said. There may be one or three out there who are legitimate, but it ain’t the one who worked for the Clinton Foundation who looked like Cruella De’Ville.” Mr Yocum has also openly degraded women by calling them names such as “b*tch,” “sl*t,” and “wh*re” in public forums.
In the interest of preserving the people of Anne Arundel County’s confidence in their school board, the Party urges him to step aside.
Also calling for Yocum’s withdrawal are:
County Executive Steuart Pittman
County Councilwoman Allison Pickard
