ANNAPOLIS, MD â Tonight, Marylanders can expect to see Dan Cox try to run away from his Trump First, MAGA record, but Marylanders know the facts because theyâve seen it before.
âDan Cox canât run away from his MAGA record, and Marylanders will see that on full display tonight,â said Maryland Democratic Party Chairman Steuart Pittman. âThis is a man who said he backs Trump 100% and calls him a âgood friendâ, who chartered buses to Washington on January 6th, and fought tooth and nail to try to bring the MAGA agenda to Annapolis. Marylanders aren’t buying it, and in November theyâll send him packing once again.â

As a delegate, MAGA Dan Cox introduced 14 anti-abortion bills, some of which included penalties, such as jail time and fines. Cox has said abortion should âneverâ be allowed, even in the case of rape, incest, or if the motherâs life is in danger. He would work day and night to take the right to choose away from every woman in Maryland.
In the legislature, Cox voted against $64.7 billion in education funding. As governor, he would divert taxpayer money to private schools, while pushing a plan that would force devastating cuts to public education.
Coxâs extremism and push to impeach former Governor Larry Hogan led him to disavow Cox as a âQ-Anon Whackjobâ in 2021. Hogan hasnât even backed Cox now that he is the Republican nominee, and called Cox âunelectableâ earlier this Summer.
Cox spent 2022 running as Trumpâs chosen surrogate in Maryland. His campaign emails went out under the sender name âTrump Endorsed Dan Cox,â with a photo of the two of them and a thumbs-up, and that September, Trump took the stage at a rally in Wilkes-Barre and praised Cox by name, telling the crowd how proud he was of him.
Days before January 6th, Cox posted that he was âco-hosting two buses to the Million MAGA March/Rally with the Frederick County Conservative Club in support of President Trump.â  Coxâs extremism even led to him tweeting that Vice President Mike Pence was a âtraitorâ during the insurrection.
Cox even went on radio to urge Marylanders to vote for Trump in 2024. In October 2024, just two weeks before the presidential election, Cox went on the radio to urge listeners to vote for President Trump, saying “if we want to keep our constitution everyone needs to get out and vote for President Trump.”
Rather than answer for that record, earlier this year he demanded that the media âcease and desistâ asking him tough questions about his MAGA record.
