Can’t Support Hogan with Abortion Rights on the Line” [Baltimore Sun Reader]

Marylanders understand Republican Larry Hogan could be the 51st seat Republicans need to take back control of the Senate and push forward an extreme, anti-abortion rights agenda.

In a letter to the Baltimore Sun published yesterday, a Marylander from Owings Mills writes that Hogan would “give the Republicans control of the Senate” and that his “two granddaughters… do not need the worry of the pressure of someone else controlling their reproductive rights.”

Hogan has a long track record of opposing reproductive freedom, including vetoing legislation in 2022 to expand abortion access in Maryland and withholding funds to train abortion providers. Last week, Semafor reported that Hogan praised Donald Trump’s Supreme Court appointees as “incredible justices” just months after they helped overturn Roe v. Wade.

• I am a lifelong Democrat. However, I voted for Larry Hogan for governor both times he ran… What keeps me from voting for Hogan for the U.S. Senate now is former President Donald Trump.
• There is no possibility that Hogan won’t succumb to Trump’s pressure and give the Republicans control of the Senate. I have two granddaughters who do not need the worry or the pressure of someone else controlling their reproductive rights.
