ANNAPOLIS, MD – Today, the Maryland Democratic Party called on Larry Hogan to denounce the dark money group “No Moore,” after The Grio spotlighted their racist posts of the nation’s only Black Governor, Wes Moore.
“Larry Hogan must make it clear to the people of Maryland whether or not he or his allies are behind this dark money campaign that’s spreading lies about Governor Moore,” said Joe Francaviglia, Deputy Executive Director of the Maryland Democratic Party. “Hogan wants people to believe that he rises above the partisan squabble, well it’s time to prove it.”
“Voters deserve truth and transparency and not to be deceived,” said Maryland Delegate Jeffrie Long. “Regardless of how they were made, these images are unacceptable and Larry Hogan and all of his allies should condemn them quickly.”
Larry Hogan continues to remain silent as people question whether or not this is his team’s doing. But, while Hogan, his allies, and these shadow campaigns continue to spread lies we have the facts:
Governor Moore Had To Jumpstart Maryland’s Economy When Larry Hogan Left Office
Larry Hogan stalled Maryland’s economy. During his time in office the state ranked 47th in unemployment. From 2017 to 2022, Maryland’s economy experienced stagnation and severely underperformed the nation and our neighboring states. Our economy was not growing. Today, Maryland has among the lowest unemployment rates and one of the fastest job growth rates in the nation because Governor Moore jumpstarted Maryland’s economy after Hogan wrecked it. In just two and a half years, Maryland has added 100,000 jobs, more jobs than Larry Hogan created in eight years combined. The Moore-Miller administration has created over 35,000 new places of business and is creating about 45% more new establishments each month than in 2019, right before the pandemic. That’s stronger growth than the country for the same period.
After Years Of Record Violence Under Larry Hogan, Governor Moore Made Our Communities Safer
Under Larry Hogan, crime soared–Baltimore alone experienced nearly a homicide a day under his watch, and non-fatal shootings and auto thefts were at alarming highs. Now under Governor Moore, Baltimore City saw back-to-back years of historic drops in homicides, with the city experiencing just over 200 homicides in 2024–the lowest recorded total since 2011. Now in 2025, Baltimore has the lowest number of homicides at this point in a year in fifty years, and reporting is calling it the “greatest success story” in the country. Across the entire state of Maryland, homicides, non-fatal shootings, and auto thefts have seen significant drops since he took office. Governor Moore made our communities safer and cleaned up the mess Larry Hogan left the state.
Governor Moore Addressed The Structural Deficit Larry Hogan Left By Fighting For Working Families And Ensuring The State’s Fiscal Stability
Larry Hogan refused to work with the Maryland General Assembly to address a major structural deficit forecasted in the state since 2017. Governor Moore worked with the leaders of the general assembly to turn that inherited $3B deficit into a $315M surplus while providing 94% of Marylanders with a tax cut or no change in their income taxes, and making the single largest cut to a Maryland State Budget in 16 years. The governor also ensured that Maryland’s rainy day fund remained at 8%—more than the recommended amount. Instead of kicking the can down the road like Larry Hogan, Governor Moore protected working families and asked Marylanders who have done exceptionally well to put forward just a little more, to grow Maryland’s economy and ensure the long-term fiscal stability of the state.
