MDP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR STATEMENT ON NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION EVENTS
Annapolis, Md. — Maryland Democratic Party Executive Director Chuck Conner today released the following statement in support of National Day of Action events held across the country.
“Elected officials, activists, community organizers and faith leaders agree: Enough is enough. Maryland Democrats today called for an end to gun violence and demanded swift action from Congress on gun safety legislation. In a recent Quinnipiac University poll, 93 percent of Americans favored background checks for all gun purchases. Despite the popularity of common sense gun safety measures, Congress remains gridlocked when it comes to passing legislation that can make our communities safer. We can’t prevent every tragedy, but that doesn’t mean we should simply give up. Together, we can solve this problem. Inaction is no longer an option.”
