Maryland Democratic Party Chair Statement on Larry Hogan Refusing to Support Codifying Roe and IVF Protections
In response to Republican Larry Hogan refusing to support federal legislation codifying Roe and protections for IVF, the Maryland Democratic Party Chair Ken Ulman released the following statement:
“As women face constant attacks on their reproductive freedom, Republican Larry Hogan showed Marylanders why we cannot trust him to represent us in the Senate. His refusal to restore Roe v. Wade and put in place federal protections for IVF is all the information Maryland voters need in order to reject him in November.”
Axios: Larry Hogan doesn’t commit to federal IVF protections
By Stephen Neukam
- Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), running for Senate in the state, would not commit Thursday to voting for federal IVF protections.
- Hogan also wouldn’t commit to supporting legislation to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, a move that is deeply unpopular among many Republican lawmakers.
- When pressed on if his answer was a yes or no, Hogan said: “That wasn’t a yes or no.”
- The big picture: Abortion access is a top issue in the 2024 campaign, with Republicans still struggling to find a consistent message after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
