Iowa & New Hampshire Boost Maryland’s Presidential Primary
Wednesday, January 9, 2008
Democratic Party Enthusiasm Builds
Towards February 12th
Elections
A statement from Michael
Cryor, Chair of the Maryland Democratic
Party
“As we move closer to the February
12th primary, Maryland’s
value to the presidential selection process is
taking on more and more importance. Maryland’s Democratic
leaders made our state more relevant to the
party nominating process and that change
appears to have worked even though there is a
lot of ground to cover before the candidates
focus on Maryland.
The results of Iowa and New
Hampshire prove that
the Democratic Party has viable, talented and
capable candidates who are connecting with the
American public in very important and
substantial ways. The Democratic candidates are
relating to people’s hopes, concerns and desire
for change while drawing record numbers of
voters to the Democratic Party through these
early contests. We see that phenomenon taking
shape in Maryland and
the competition excites us as the Maryland
Democratic Party continues to grow and expand
our numbers in anticipation of the first
relevant Maryland Presidential Primary in
decades.”
The “Chesapeake Primary” scheduled for
February 12, 2008 consists of Maryland, Virginia and the
District of
Columbia and no other
states.
