Steele's Deal
Today, Michael Steele continues his descent
into the sticky morass of partisan debt to
George Bush and the Republican National
Committee. After his campaign stumbled, they
fired his staff and are now hand-picking
successors. The record of Steele's major
fundraisers shows how deeply indebted he is to
Bush and his network of right-wing Republican
extremists.
* Karl Rove, July 2005: Steele snatched around
$75,000 from GOP insiders and lobbyists at an
exclusive and secret inside the Beltway
fundraiser
* President Bush, November, 2005: Steele
brought President Bush to Baltimore and raked
in about $500,000. Though a substantial sum,
Steele's Presidential take is smaller than Bush
has generated for other GOP candidates across
the nation
* Andrew Card and Mallory Factor, March 8,
2006: Steele drew an undisclosed amount at a
New York event starring President Bush's Chief
of Staff Andrew Card. Presidential pal Mallory
Factor called "the ATM for Bush's
America" by New York magazine, hosted
Steele and Card's soiree. Factor spends his
free time working with Ken Starr in an effort
to overturn the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation and
defending tax cuts to the super-wealthy as an
antidote to Hurricane Katrina relief
* Marvin Bush and Ed Gillespie, March 13,
2006: Former RNC chair Ed Gillespie and
Presidential brother Marvin Bush team up to
generate more special interest cash for
Steele's campaign
Regulating Ehrlich
Governor Ehrlich once again proves he is a
friend of special interests and not Maryland
families. With electric bills on the brink of
surging more than 50%, Ehrlich has sat back
almost waiting for prices to inch further.
Worse yet, Ehrlich replaced consumer friendly
staff and appointed electricity industry allies
to the Public Service Commission- a group which
regulates public utilities.
Ehrlich points the blame at the General
Assembly for passing the hikes. What he doesn't
remember is that every Republican in Annapolis
supported deregulation. Ehrlich must also be
suffering from a memory loss as he voted 'yes'
that same year when the matter came before him
while serving in Congress.
The real question is not 'who' brought us into
this problem, but whether Ehrlich can govern
effectively by placing the people's interests
first without being bought out by special
interests.
Comcast Networks
First Lady Kendel Ehrlich might not be
violating any laws but from an ethical
standpoint she is guilty.
Mrs. Ehrlich receives a whopping $55,000 for a
part-time gig she hosting a program about
substance abuse on Comcast.
Comcast currently deals in million dollar
contracts with the state and is regulated by
the Public Service Commission.
In 2004 Governor Ehrlich vetoed a bill that
would have outlawed a corporate tax shelter in
Delaware. The bill would have prevented
corporations from shifting their assets to
Delaware, a move which would have cost Comcast
millions of dollars.

As a practicing attorney she should uphold
ethical standards and recuse herself from
engaging in practices that pose a conflict of
interest.
*Letters to the Editor*
Many of you have written the Party to raise
an issue or just to have your voice heard. It's

strongly believed that contributing your
opinions is an effective means to not only
speak on behalf of our party but to also become
more involved. With primaries just around the
corner-we encourage you to speak up for the
Party and to use the time to show the true
spirit of Democrats.
